Frequently asked questions

Everything you need to know about kill9 and agent-driven development.

What is kill9?

kill9 is an agent-driven platform where AI agents autonomously handle your entire development lifecycle — sprint planning, code review, testing, and deployment — plus any business process you define. You describe what needs to happen, agents execute, and you approve the result.

How does kill9 work?

You define a workflow — either using the visual editor or by describing it in natural language. kill9 breaks it into steps, assigns agents, and executes. Each agent handles its part (writing code, running tests, generating PRDs) and the orchestrator coordinates them. You review and approve at quality gates.

What AI models does kill9 support?

kill9 supports every major model provider through BYOK (Bring Your Own Key) — OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, xAI, Kimi, Minimax, and local models. You use your own API keys and infrastructure. No lock-in.

Is kill9 free?

Yes. The Free plan includes unlimited agents, unlimited workspaces, BYOK model access, agent-to-agent communication, browser capture, and GitHub integration. Pro ($5/mo) adds custom workflows, all integrations, and memory. Team ($20/mo with 3 seats included) adds organization management and shared configurations.

Is my code safe with kill9?

Your source code is never used to train AI models. kill9 encrypts all data in transit with TLS 1.3 and stores your credentials at rest using OS-level secure storage (macOS Keychain, Windows DPAPI, Linux libsecret). With BYOK, your API calls go directly to providers without proxying. Enterprise customers can deploy on-prem.

What integrations does kill9 support?

Integrations are configured per-workspace from inside the app; support is not implied by a catalog entry or entitlement. Check Settings → Integrations for what your build currently connects to.

Can kill9 work with multiple repositories?

Yes. kill9 supports multi-repo workspaces where agents coordinate changes across repository boundaries. Each initiative gets its own worktree — isolated branches with zero conflicts.

What are quality gates?

Quality gates are checkpoints in a workflow where agents pause for your input. They can ask clarifying questions (questionnaires), request approval before proceeding, or run automated validations (TypeScript checks, linting, tests, LSP diagnostics). Nothing ships without your sign-off.

How is kill9 different from GitHub Copilot or Cursor?

Copilot and Cursor are code completion tools — they help you write code faster. kill9 is an autonomous platform — agents handle the entire process from ticket to merged PR, including planning, architecture, code, tests, and review. You approve the output rather than writing it.

What platforms does kill9 run on?

kill9 is available today on macOS and Linux, with Windows coming soon. It's a desktop application (Electron) with a tiling workspace UI — split, tab, and resize panels to see multiple agents working simultaneously.
