Docs (Mod+4) is where you write the artifacts that guide implementation — PRDs, ADRs, design docs, and notes. It is a three-pane workspace: a document navigator on the left, an editor in the center, and an agent chat on the right.
The three panes
Left — Navigator. Browse and search your documents. At the top is a search box and a refresh button. Below that, toggle between Active Initiative (documents linked to the current initiative) and All Documents (everything in your workspace).
Documents are organized in a collapsible tree by type: PRDs, ADRs, design docs, and notes. Click a document to open it in the editor. Click a section header to expand or collapse it.
Center — Editor. A rich text editor supporting markdown and formatting. The toolbar has:
- Save — saves the document (also Cmd/Ctrl+S)
- Options menu — copy markdown, export, or view document info
- Version history — toggle to see past versions and compare changes
When you select text in the editor, a floating toolbar appears with options to ask an agent about the selection, add a comment, or format it.
Right — Agent chat and comments. This pane has two tabs:
- Agent — chat with the agent assigned to this document. Ask kpm to draft a PRD, karch to write an ADR, or any agent to review or improve the content.
- Comments — review comments from team members. Each comment appears as a thread with replies. Comments are linked to specific lines in the document.
Writing with agents
The fastest way to write a document is to let an agent draft it, then edit.
- Create a document in the navigator
- In the right pane, switch to the Agent tab
- Describe what you need:
Use kpm to draft a PRD for adding dark mode. The user should be able to toggle between light, dark, and system preference.- The agent produces a draft in the editor
- Edit it directly — add specifics, remove assumptions, clarify scope
- When ready, move it to review — team members add comments in the Comments tab
Comments and review
Comments are attached to specific selections in the document. Select text, click the comment button in the floating toolbar, and type your feedback. The comment appears in the Comments tab and as an inline bubble in the editor.
Each comment thread can have replies, can be resolved (hiding it from the active list), or reopened if needed. You can also delete your own comments.
When a document is in review mode, a Review Bar appears at the top with Approve and Request Changes buttons. This is how documents get approved as part of the workflow gates.
Version history
Click Version history in the toolbar to see all past versions of the document. Select two versions to compare them — additions are highlighted in green, deletions in red. This is useful when an agent made changes and you want to see exactly what changed.

- Switch to the Comments tab and request review
- Team members add comments on specific lines
- Address the comments, resolve the threads
- Click Approve in the review bar
- The initiative's design gate is now satisfied
