kill9 is built for keyboard use. Most actions have a shortcut, and the ones you use most often become muscle memory quickly.
Navigation
Cmd/Ctrl+K opens the command palette. This is the fastest way to do almost anything — search for surfaces, run commands, or find settings. Think of it as Spotlight or Alfred for kill9.
Ctrl+Alt+1 through Ctrl+Alt+9 focuses the panel at that position in the layout (left-to-right, top-to-bottom).
Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+A opens the Agents browser where you can browse and customize agents.
Cmd/Ctrl+, opens Settings.
Panels and layout
Cmd/Ctrl+D splits the focused chat pane horizontally; Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+D splits it vertically. This is how you keep multiple surfaces visible at once — chat on the left, Browser on the right, for example. Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+Enter zooms the focused pane and Cmd/Ctrl+Shift+M maximizes it.
Cmd/Ctrl+B toggles the workspace rail between its collapsed bar and expanded state; Cmd/Ctrl+\\ hides and shows it entirely.
Zen Mode (fullscreen chat, all chrome hidden) is entered from General Settings or the command palette, and exited with Escape. Escape also closes maximized panels, overlays, and drawers.
Contextual shortcuts
Some shortcuts only work in specific contexts. The inspector in the Browser panel has its own shortcuts. The editor has shortcuts for formatting and navigation. The chat composer sends on Enter and creates a new line on Shift+Enter.
Customization
Open Settings (Cmd/Ctrl+,) and go to the Shortcuts section to customize any shortcut. Click a shortcut, press the new key combination, and it updates immediately.
