Settings opens as a drawer over your workspace when you press Cmd/Ctrl+,. It is organized into sections (19 rendered sections in the current build), each handling a different aspect of how kill9 behaves.

General

The General section controls the look and feel of the app. Pick a theme from the dropdown — there are thirteen options ranging from System (follows your OS setting) to playful ones like Nyan Cat and Cyberpunk. Choose your language, set the UI font size, and toggle Zen Mode which hides the navigation chrome for focused work.

The Updates panel at the bottom checks for new versions. When an update is available, download it and restart kill9 to apply.

Models

This is where you connect, disconnect, and switch AI providers. Add an API key or complete OAuth for any provider, then pick a default model. You can add multiple providers and switch between them at any time.

See Connect model providers for details on each provider.

Agents

Configure which agents are available and what models they use. Set a default model for all agents, or override individual agents. Each agent has a customizable color that appears in the chat interface. Disable agents you don't use to keep the list focused.

Editor

Pick your font family and size for the code editor. Enable or disable LSP (Language Server Protocol) support. When LSP is on, kill9 provides code intelligence like go-to-definition and autocomplete.

Notifications

Control how kill9 alerts you. Toggle sound alerts and set the volume. Choose which events trigger notifications — when an agent starts, completes, or encounters an error. Set how long toast notifications stay on screen before auto-dismissing.

Advanced

YOLO Mode lets agents proceed without asking for confirmation on every step. Use this only when you trust the agent and understand the codebase well.

Add dangerous command patterns — bash commands that match these patterns require your explicit approval before running. This prevents accidental destructive operations.

Toggle Reduce Motion to disable animations. Switch between Local and Remote connection modes if you're running kill9 against a remote server.

Data and Privacy

Clear local data and log out removes conversation history, cached files, and worktrees from your machine. Your cloud data remains and will sync back when you log in again.

Delete Account removes your account identity and server-side user data. Backup expiry and processor-side retention remain policy obligations, and required local cleanup runs on your machine after the server-side erasure.
